By touching on sensitive themes, such as death, mourning, prejudice and bullying, Ana Carolina Marinho has managed to create, in this beautiful debut, a captivating narrative for readers of all ages.

Micheliny Verunschk

The plan to leave her small town in Rio Grande do Norte to try a new life in São Paulo is affected by an unexpected event. Now, Nisia will have to face one of the most significant changes in her life as she adapts to a metropolis. As if that weren't enough, the girl does not feel welcomed in her new school. When children make fun of her, she begins to see herself differently. Or better yet: to listen to herself in an entirely different way.

The authors

Ana Carolina Marinho was born in Natal (RN) and moved to São Paulo (SP) in 2011. She is an actress, screenwriter, and director in both theater and cinema, as well as a founding member of the Coletivo Estopô Balaio, where, for over a decade, she has developed an artistic residency in the Jardim Romano neighborhood, in the periphery of São Paulo. Nísia is her first literary venture. She grew up immersed in lakes, ponds, rivers, and seas, with the Carcará Lagoon being her favorite place in the world. In her childhood dream, she never imagined leaving home so soon. Although she feels increasingly "at home" in São Paulo, someone always asks her where she is from.

Paty Wolff is a visual artist and writer. Born in Cacoal (RO), she was raised and currently resides in Cuiabá (MT), the heart of South America, referring to its geographical center. In 2021, she published her first book, Como pássaros no céu de Aruanda (Like Birds in the Sky of Aruanda) (Entrelinhas Editora), which was a finalist for the 2022 Jabuti Award in the Short Stories category. She is also the author of the children's and young adult book Thehcitura (Thehcitura) (Entrelinhas Editora, 2021), published through the Aldir Blanc Law in Cuiabá (MT). Paty was also the illustrator of Nísia.
