What do family and affection have to do with palindromes?

What do palindromes, those words or phrases that can be read backwards and forwards, have to do with affection and family? For uncle Pedro, one of the narrators of this book, everything. Uncle, who used to do headstands instead of walking and rested his feet on the pillow, learned what a palindrome was with his sister’s name: Ana. And since then, he has researched and created palindromes.

Uncle Pedro read everything backwards looking for palindromes, but his most beautiful creations appeared in “inspiring, situations of love and affection”. Such as a day at the zoo with the family, or watching a football game on TV with grandpa. That is good news, because in Uncle Pedro’s big, affectionate family, everyone is different, and that is great!

The authors

Caio Zerbini was born in São Paulo, he is the father of two boys and the uncle of four children. He has been writing palindromes since 2012, when he realized that "sapos" [toads] is the exact reverse of "sopas" [soups]. The book O tio + oito [The Uncle + Eight] is his first, but he has a novel on the way, which was scheduled for release in 2021. Besides being a writer, he is also a videomaker.

Bruna Lubambo grew up in Timóteo but lives in Belo Horizonte. She is an illustrator and writer, and she enjoys working with various techniques and materials: printmaking, silkscreen, stamps, acrylics, colored pencils, chalk, and collage, among others. In 2020, she published her first book as both author and illustrator, Dentro de Casa [Inside the House] (Ed. Aletria), a book that received the Cátedra Unesco PUC-Rio seal and was selected by Clube Quindim. That same year, she was a finalist for the Jabuti Award in the Illustration category with the book Oir o Rio [Hear the River] (Ed. Sowilo).
