From the meeting of one of the most acclaimed picture-book authors, South Korean Suzy Lee, and her compatriot, the musician Lucid Fall, comes a book as fluid as water, capable of capturing a moment of contentment and freedom.

"Illustrating 'Água' was a new experience: uniting the creative power
of the picture book with that of music. That is what I want to do:
expand the realm of picture books and their readers."

"They say it takes 20 years for the raindrops that fall on Mount Halla, the highest mountain in South Korea, to reach the sea. Where would they be, and what would they be now, the raindrops that soaked the ground when this song was born?"

Defining himself as a musician-farmer who tends to trees, Lucid Fall made his debut in music as a member of the indie band Misoni. He has released several albums, including Being-with, his latest, released in 2023. The song "Água" [Water] is part of the 2005 album Oh, Love.

Suzy Lee.

“Music is an image you can hear, and an image is music you can see. I imagine you lighter and happier in the fluid, silky water. The music takes a turn and flows again. Blue and clear.”

She studied painting in South Korea and book arts in England, and has published picture books in several other countries, including Summer, River, The Black Dog, Lines, Wave, Mirror, and Shadow. She also heads Hintoki Press, through which she publishes her independent artist books. She is the winner of the 2022 Hans Christian Andersen Award in the Illustration category.
