It was supposed to be here a short text explaining a bit about this picture book, a collaboration between João Luiz Guimarães and Rosinha.
But we think you’ll have more fun discovering for yourself all the characters destined to make this story one of the funniest you’ve read in a long time (and they certainly will).
The authors
João Luiz Guimarães was born in Rio de Janeiro, spent his childhood in Canada, and currently lives in São Paulo. He has received significant honors, such as the Barco a Vapor, Off Flip, Cidade de Manaus, and FNLIJ awards, and has had works selected for the Bologna Book Fair catalogue. He has been recognized with the UNESCO Chair in Reading distinction, was included in the UN SDG Library, and won both the Jabuti Award for Best Children's Book and the Jabuti Award for Book of the Year for Sagatrissuinorana (ÔZé Editora), created in partnership with illustrator Nelson Cruz (from Minas Gerais).
In Era Pra Ter Aqui, he renews a successful partnership with artist Rosinha (from Pernambuco), with whom he previously produced Papo Reto & Papo Curvo (Editora do Brasil). Era Pra Ter Aqui is his first title with Editora Caixote, the realization of a long-held dream.
Rosinha was born in Recife and lives in Olinda. One of the things she loves most in life is illustrating; another is teaching illustration. Over a career spanning more than 30 years, she has illustrated over 130 titles. Even so, she found this book a fun challenge because she had to illustrate something that isn't there, namely, absence. She realized that this is truly the best part of her work: creating worlds that do not exist, worlds that aren't there yet until she sits down and begins to draw.
She has participated in countless illustration exhibitions and won numerous awards, such as the FNLIJ "Highly Recommended" seal in the Poetry, Theater, Retelling, and Illustration categories, as well as the FNLIJ Best National Book for Babies of the Year, the Crescer Magazine 30 Best Children's Books of the Year, the Açorianos Literature Award, and the Jabuti Award. She has also received the UNESCO Chair Distinction (PUC-Rio) and the international White Ravens seal.
