In her new book for young readers, Paty Wolff chronicles the journey of a piece of ancestral cloth, the Samakaka, from the hands of an Angolan girl until it is found by a Brazilian girl. Along the way, she imagines everything that lies "After the Atlantic".

What you hold in your hands is not merely a book; it is a passport, a journey across eras, seas, languages, and African memories.

Like the ancient Mumuila (Mwíla) masters, Paty Wolff weaves together colors, sounds, and beauty as if crafting a sacred textile, poetically connecting the ancestral voices and wisdom that crossed the Atlantic and found a home in Brazil.

PATY WOLFF. Writer, visual artist, and geographer. She lives in Cuiabá, Mato Grosso—in the heart of the South American continent, far from the sea. Yet, whenever she has the chance to visit the beach, she gazes at the vastness of the ocean and wonders about what lies beyond the Atlantic: the African continent and its nations, the diaspora, and her own Afro-Brazilian roots.
