Margaret e a Flor-da-Lua
This book is inspired by the life of the English illustrator, botanist and ecologist Margaret Mee (1909 – 1988). Margaret, who lived in Brazil for the last 36 years of her life, made 15 expeditions through the Amazon between 1956 and 1988. During these courageous forays into remote places, she discovered several species of plants and catalogued hundreds of others, painting them in a very unique watercolor style. Her love and fascination for nature and Brazilian flora made Margaret not only an internationally renowned artist, but also an activist. At that time, she was already warning about the risk of extinction of the forest, and used her paintings as a way to encourage the preservation of the biodiversity of the Amazon.
The authors
Cameron is a pseudonym and a tribute to Julia Margaret Cameron, who was one of the first artistic photographers. Like Margaret Mee, she began her journey at the age of 40, when she received a camera as a gift.
Nat Cardozo is an illustrator who graduated in Fine Arts and Design from the J. Serra i Abella School in Barcelona in 2009. She has created several illustrated books, both by herself and in partnership with other authors. This is her second book published in Brazil.
