Is it possible to create a book that begins and ends before the story itself? Oh, we’re going to show you that it is. After all, for a story to be good, it needs… you know, that thing?

Have you ever found yourself looking at a bottle and thinking, “What if it were a rocket?” Or perhaps an elephant? A submarine? A spaceship made of dreams?

That is the starting point of What could this be, a picture book created by Nina Brondi and Manu Beserra, two storytellers who joined forces to shape a poetic, playful invitation: to shake the rust off the imagination.

Inspired by storytelling sessions that enchant both children and adults, the book invites readers of all ages to dive into a creative game where anything can transform. Because, to embark on a great story, you have to let yourself go, letting the world of imagination spill into everyday life and making things lighter, more magical, and far more fun.

The authors

Nina Brondi. Can a book begin after it ends? Well... That is my way of telling stories, because I discovered that, for them to happen, we first need to un-rust our imagination. That way, we can listen with our hearts to everything it has to tell us! I am an art educator, actress, storyteller, pedagogue, and mother. I have been working with storytelling for eleven years, and during this time, I realized something very important: when the imagination is well warmed up, it is possible to dive into a sea of stories! A bottle becomes a rocket, a clothespin becomes a shark. What could this be? is born from this special preparation I always do before telling a story. It is a fun and powerful game; in fact, it is a magical tool for "un-rusting" the imagination. Before opening a book or listening to a story, remember: wake up your ears so you don't miss a single word, your eyes so you don't miss a single detail, and above all, open your heart. Without an open heart and an un-rusted imagination, no story can happen!
